Pentatonic Method

Follow the links to the Pentatonic Flute Method based on the Choroi Quinta instrument.  Note that there isn’t a lesson #1.  I use a little rhyme about birds, which I didn’t create, so I didn’t want to post it here.  Basically, you just teach the kids how to hold the flute, and where to “house” their fingers.

Lesson #3

Lesson #4

    • Glad you found it! I’d love to know how it goes. Lesson #1 was a lesson that i never wrote down! i really ought to. I told a story about a beautiful pear orchard growing on a hill. The Wind Played a wonderful Melody on the Branches there. Each year the villagers came and the trees shared their fruit with them. Every year the trees watched the children grow stronger and stronger fed with good healthy food. Finally, one year the pear trees realized it was time to feed the children in another way. When the village came to share the fruit, the trees gave them the very precious gift to them. They gave their very branches to the wood carvers to build flutes for the children to learn to play the music of the wind themselves to grow stronger still.

These flutes are made of pear wood. You can find a great YouTube video about their manufacture in Sweden by Special Needs employees.

      • I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope to find some time soon to finish the method. As for the first verse, I learned it from a friend and she didn’t know where came from. You can find a video of it on my YouTube channel if it helps. Just search for Mrcarrontheweb and choroi. I hope that helps. If not let me know and I’ll figure something else out to teach it to you. I just would hate to infringe on someone else’s work by sharing it without asking.

  1. So excited to have stumbled upon this. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Quinta, I have a few years before my children will be in first grade but I figured now was a good time for me to learn. Thanks so much for sharing.

    • Absolutely! Make sure you check out my YouTube channel. I’m also traveling to teach at some conferences in India in a few weeks, which has sparked my desire to finish the method.
